New Yankee Stadium

Address: Site of Macombs Dam Park, Bronx
Developer(s): George Steinbrenner, the New York Yankees
Architect: HOK Sport+Venue+Event
Floors: N/A
Height:
Status/Comments: PROPOSED. The third iteration of The House That Ruth Built (and the team gut renovated in 1973) would feature an upper deck rim similar to that of the current stadium, set within a classic-style base that more closely resembles original limestone facade of 1923 ballpark. A refreshing development in an era of taxpayer-funded structures for already-wealthy teams: the Yankees will shoulder the full $800 million cost, while the City will spend about $200 million for area infrastructure improvements. No final word yet on the fate of the current Yankee Stadium. Team originally tossed around idea of converting it into giant parking structure with soccer field on top, and containing preserved baseball field on lower level. New stadium will seat 51,800.
