| Status/Comments: | CONSTRUCTION. Poised to become the most expensive property in the city. Envisioned by esteemed architect Robert A.M. Stern as an homage to unparalleled building designer Rosario Candela, towers contain the most modern amenities, as well as some of the largest windows and private terraces in the city, while the building is expensively clad in ground-to-top limestone. Built on the former full-block site of the Mayflower hotel between 61st and 62nd Streets, the address actually consists of two towers known as the House (20 stories) and the Tower (43 stories). A gated mid-block courtyard entrance connects the two. When the Zeckendorfs announced in January 2006 that they had passed the 50% sales mark, they'd already cleared $1 billion. Arthur Zeckendorf told the Post that 14 sales were for $20 million or more. Hedge fund manager Daniel Loeb of Third Point LLC set a New York City record by purchasing the 10-bedroom, 10,700-sf penthouse for $45 million in 2005. |
