Chicago-based EOP purchased 80% of the tower, including 30,000 sf of retail space, from Verizon in late 2005 for a reported $505 million.  The Midwestern juggernaut property manager has since embarked on a $260 million renovation of the building, which includes stripping off its widely-panned facade in favor of a sleek glass curtain wall, as well as improvements to Equity's 1,030,000 leasable square feet.
